Special Letter to Readers: Learning is Such a Gift

Learning is Such a Gift

We learn by pushing ourselves and finding what really lies at the outer reaches of our abilities.  ~ Josh Waitzkin

Do you have so much on your plate the only thing left is overwhelm?

That is where I have been over the past few weeks.

I am sure you can relate … everywhere you turn, something else is demanding your attention.

As if juggling between work, family, and my personal needs weren’t enough; I seem to have a never ending list of things needing to get done leaving me only overwhelm and stress.

Focus Biz, focus.  And B R E A T H E.

Recently I had to revisit my Word of the Year choice many times.  I have no doubt my choosing the word breathe was almost prophetic. Concentrating, practicing, and utilizing it has gotten me through many difficult or challenging situations.

You may have noticed I haven’t sent out a newsletter during these last few weeks … you might be asking, why?  Several have asked me via email and I thought…. just make an announcement already, Biz.  ::giggle:

By way of explanation:  I have had a dream for what seems like forever.  The dream started morphing into reality and taking shape when I changed my focus from “diet” to “whole body health”.  That dream was to become a Whole Body Health Coach.

Whole Body Health isn’t only about nutrition, it’s about a balance between mind, body and spirit.

In order to become a better coach encompassing a broader knowledge base, and in turn help more and more people, I have taken additional training and certification courses.

Ultimately, this led me to start Massage School in February!

Why on Earth did I choose Massage School?  At first, it was mostly about fulfilling Florida State’s requirements regarding Essential Oils (EO). In my EO training, there are techniques which require I touch the human body (even if touching only involves the hands or feet.)  In Florida State, for me to be able to do that legally, I have to be a certified healthcare practitioner and Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) is one such option.

Enrolling in Massage School was with that intent in mind. However, two and a half months into the program, my focus has changed dramatically. I have learned so much about the human body already.  Now more than ever, I am eager to add this facet of body health into my online coaching practice, and additionally develop an offline massage care practice as well.

Needless to say, the learning is intense and basically I am acquiring a new language.  When combining A&P (anatomy and physiology) and Kinesiology (the study of movement), my mind is whirling around like a hummingbird.

After all, there are over 650 muscles in the human body and over 200 bones.  To be certified as a LMT I have to know not only the muscles and bone, but every single body system and I have to know them well ... this includes learning words in LATIN (like I said, a new language).

It’s fascinating and I am loving each and every moment of the learning process.

However, it’s overwhelming, especially when I thought I could do it all … coach, caregiver, help my daughter with school, household duties, mother, sister … if there is one thing this has taught me is that I am truly mortal.

I have been missing a few important facets in my life and one is the weekly newsletter.

In order to start bringing things in line, at least till the end of the year (I graduate in November), I have decided to change to a monthly newsletter. By doing so, it will release a great amount of stress and pressure all the while accomplishing something very dear to me –– a connection to my readers.

With that in mind, I would like to create a newsletter that best serves my readers.  Since launching The Biz Buzz (December 2010), I have fiddled with many formats.  There is one thing I have never done though, and that was ask my readers what they would like most in a newsletter.

To gather that information, I am creating a poll/survey and when it’s ready, I would greatly appreciate your input. In the mean time, if you have any suggestions, please respond to this email.

With my ever expanding knowledge base of how the human body works, I am excited to share new information in the months to come and being able to work with all of you via this newsletter, in group coaching, or 1:1.

With gratitude,

P.S. Please remember, if our companionship and journeys still coincide as to this newsletter, you don’t have to do a thing. Or if you prefer to unsubscribe, click the link at the bottom of this email.
